WeVPN 6 Month Review - Not So Unlimited as i thought

#514

Post by Rain »

G'day Folks it's that time of the night again,

Time for another fun fact review of another VPN Provider called WeVPN should really be named DailyLimitVPN
I will get more into that further down the page

I'll be testing all Protocols listed by WeVPN: IKEv2,UDP,TCP,Wireguard

For Gaming I'll be testing UDP/TCP/Wireguard (sometimes IKEv2 can be bit stubborn even with other providers
which causes me to drop out a lot so we will leave that out moving forward)

Now for this test i will be testing Sydney and Melbourne Server

Local connection in the hearts of Australia Look here:

Ok Let's get down to the Pros and Cons of the service for WeVPN
Pros:
Great Network For Gaming (Careful if you have to do those big patch updates for games like Call of Duty/StarCraft2/Fortnight/Xbox/PS4/etc (We all use VPN to boost our download speeds to CDN cache servers to update faster it's common knowledge)
Decent Latency
Friendly Support via support ticket
Decent Windows APP Client Features
Good for FTP (just don't go over anything bigger then 150GB in 24 hours yes i'm 100% honest)
Cons:
Recently found out WeVPN has a Limit of GB an Account user can do per 24 hours of no more then 150GB daily if you go over that you get a lovely email warning you (More on that when i give my final thoughts with screenshots to backup my claims)
Only has two Servers within Australia, Sydney And Melbourne
Windows APP has been buggy for me the last 3 months with them
To give credit where its due, the first 3 months was fantastic
Lets start off with the data limit of no more then 150GB which i myself was shocked to discover

Now according to there website Terms of Services i found nothing about this so called limit service and also checked Privacy Policy and found nothing remotely about so called Limit

Note Below

So you must be thinking well how else did they send me a notice telling me i done over 150GB in 24 hours well that's easy seems they track by Email to the account user to get around their own policy

So i asked them what was up and they sent me this without asking how much i downloaded but they were nice enough to tell me so means they track 100%

Interesting right ? so i probed for more info on the matter because i was happy using them and was going to renew my 6 month service with them

Edit: i went searching for the written info below in privacy policy at wevpn and see they have removed it, as it was there a few days ago but
Seems to have disappeared all suddenly

Link Here to view it better: Removed-From-Privacy-Policy
Aggregate sum of data transferred (in GB)
We collect daily aggregate data sums and monthly data sums on a given user, which are then reset at the start of each month. Although we provide unlimited data transfer, if we notice that a single user pushes more traffic than thousands of others combined, therefore affecting the quality of service for other WeVPN users, we are able to correlate aggregate data across WeVPN network to a user (by email) for abuse prevention purposes and therefore we may contact that user for an explanation. Rest assured, we are incapable of uniquely identifying how a user uses our service. A user's usage pattern overlaps with numerous other WeVPN customers also connected to the same location at any given time, making it impossible to correlate at any given time.
"

Best regards

And there you have it folks, I'll leave that here for you all to make up you're own minds

Now the nitty gritty

Question: Do i Recommend this provider to the public ?
Answer: Nope
Truth: If you are a light user and won't use more then 150GB per daily according to everything you have read here then yes they are cheap enough to give them a fair go
WeVPN is good for everything i said Gaming/FTP/etc

The way i see it is, you can't say you are unlimited but have a data cap on it, In my view, your either Unlimited or your not, please don't play people for chumps and think you can have a daily limit of 150GB and claim to be an unlimited service it doesn't work that way

Given that we are in a pandemic and everyone is working from home with family kids or even single people

Watching NetFlix 4K/ KayoSports/ YouTube/stan/ whatever else you guys do

150GB daily limit is a joke for year 2020 nearly 2021

I provide Proof with backed up ScreenShots for everyone else to make up your own minds whether this service is for you or not

Thanks for reading all stay safe out there

Stay tuned for my next Honest Truth when testing my VPN Provider at random :)
