Hello everyone

Sharing my personal experience because it warrants valid points for those looking at getting a Dedicated Server/Dedicated SeedBox Server for torrenting/usenet etc and those that love to use Syncthing directly to their NAS whatever or use it for plex etc etc you get the idea

This is not a dig at anyone or any company, just expressing what happened that made me move in such a short time and write this up so others can make a inform choice themselves

Last month i went looking for a dedicated seedbox/server, so found a company called Canvvy which was suited for what I was looking for in terms of seeding/usenet/syncthing and everything I wanted to do

So I purchased it on: 29/10/2020 -
Specs below

Code: Select all

CPU Xeon L3426
RAM 16 GB
Disk 2 x 2 TB HDD
Traffic 1 Gbps / Unmetered
For $30.22 USD / monthly (something like $44-$45AUD)

The first few days took some getting used too, I have to admit their discord server live support are all very friendly as well as support via tickets. I have nothing bad to say about that, they went above and beyond
to install certain things that I required to get things rolling.

From the 29/10/2020 till 07/11/2020 I've been trying to find ways to increase the slow speeds from FTP/Syncthing I was receiving,

Given I live in Australia and I'm on a 100Mbps/40Mbps connection and the box was in France. I understand location plays a part in everything, prior to joining the Canvvy network I ran some speedtests via there website and was getting decent speeds so figured, sure, why not, but I was wrong. I jumped on discord and used a ticket and pretty much was told to use HTTP/HTTPS if I wanted to download at full speed via a swizzin addon/extension file browser. At first I thought, ok, I'll try to get used it but nope, I just couldn't get used to it any longer, I even tried various VPN Providers to try and improve the speed results via FTP and Syncthing which resulted in the same thing, below are the images.

I was told to try Multi-Threaded FTP Clients CuteFTP which I tried a whole bunch of them and I saw improvement but it just wasn't what I was after and why should I change my setup using FlashFXP and Syncthing
just to download faster when there wasn't anything wrong with the setup I'm using and used too and have been using for many years.

No VPN just normal connection, using FlashFXP Program

In the end to no avail I decided to cut my losses and jumped on seedhost.eu with a Dedicated SeedBox Server for $20 AUD more. The results have been impressive with nothing needing to change on my setup or internet provider

Dedicated Seedbox I bought below

Thank you for reading :)

Feel free to leave comments below on what you think.

Nothing has changed on my settings/setup and this was the end result to get things working the way I'm used too

My Dedicated SeedBox Server is fully managed by Seedhost.eu better for me I suppose, long as I keep getting these speeds I don't mind paying the extra $20 AUD and gain an extra 4TB in the process

Rain
